Hawke's Bay Vineyards

The Hawke's Bay vineyards have made their name with soft, melon and stone-fruit infused Sauvignon Blancs, well-rounded citrusy Chardonnays, and robust rich-fruit flavoured reds, including Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the sheltered east coast of the North Island, Hawke's Bay is the country's second largest wine region, producing 18.8% of the national wineries' crop.

Our focus here is on the small but internationally renowned vineyard Black Barn. Their focus is on premium Bordeaux-style red varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc; many of their wines are only available through the cellar door, which is open 7 days, 10pm-5pm.

The Black Barn Bistro caters for al fresco dining with an innovative seasonal menu, and their Gallery features smaller works by leading New Zealand artists. You can also stay at one of their luxuriously-appointed properties, either on or off the vineyard.
