The famous Queen Charlotte Walkway is a gentle and beautiful single or multi-day walking track set amongst the Marlborough Sounds. The Sounds are the only true Sounds in New Zealand (Milford and Doubtful Sound are actually fiords), and offer the traveller endless bays and inlets to explore by boat, kayak or foot.
It is also home to Blenheim, the Sauvignon Blanc capital of the world: with over forty vineyards to choose from you are sure to find a wine (or two) that you like.
Kaikoura, a sleepy seaside township just south of Marlborough on the East coast, is the only place in the country where you can go whale watching, by boat, plane or helicopter. Furthermore, it is one of the best places to see or swim with dolphins.
