Cape Reinga Scenic Flight
A Cape Reinga scenic flight is the only way to experience the far North of New Zealand in its entirety. Much of the East coast of the North is unreachable by road, so an aircraft presents the ideal viewing platform for this area.
Fixed-wing flight time for the northbound journey is approximately 1 hour, and you will fly over some stunning scenery - bush-clad hills, the deep Whangaroa Harbour, the Pohutukawa-fringed, tranquil white sands of Doubtless Bay, and of course the famous Ninety Mile Beach. You'll set down at Shenstone Farm Airstrip, only 20kms by road from Cape Reinga.
The first stop on the drive tour is the Cape Reinga lighthouse with its incredible views of the Tasman Sea and mighty Pacific Ocean merging together. You will then head round the corner to the beautiful Taputoputo Bay for refreshments and a quick swim if desired. The last stop on the vehicle tour is the Te Paki quicksand stream with its mighty sand dunes - sand sleds are provided for the more adventurous travelers to try their luck at "sand surfing".
