Gardens & Parks

For magnificent landscapes, a varied but usually benign climate, fascinating native flora and fauna, and innovative gardens, New Zealand should be on any gardener's wish list of destinations.

New Zealand gardens seem to have it all, thanks to diverse climatic regions and geographic features.

Many New Zealand gardens open by early summer and every city has a botanic garden of merit. Garden styles are varied. Some gardeners are absorbed by native flora and use it exclusively; others opt for a fusion style, combining the best natives with exotic species.

In warm areas, palms are a common sight, reflecting recent interest in sub-tropical-style gardens; large-leaved foliage plants are also used extensively.

In colder areas gardens are filled with perennials and roses. In Central Otago paddocks of peonies, an export crop for cut flowers, bloom next to crystal-clear lakes.

We invite you to have a look through the gardens we have chosen to showcase - these are merely a sample of the multitude of outstanding gardens we have in New Zealand, and which we could integrate into an itinerary for you:
